In a time when teachers should be held in the highest esteem, it is heartbreaking to witness incidents like the harassment of a Qur’an teacher from Al Badar School — a women who dedicated herself to nurturing hearts with the Book of Allah, now targeted and humiliated by a student and parents.
This tragic event raises serious questions about the morality of our society. Have we forgotten the maqam (status) Islam has given to our asatiza (teachers)?
Islam teaches us:
“I have been sent as a teacher.” — [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ – Sahih Muslim]
The Prophet ﷺ himself emphasized the role of a teacher with divine purpose and dignity.
Imam Ali (RA) said:
“Whoever teaches me a single word, has made me his servant for a lifetime.”
Is this how we treat those who spread knowledge of the Qur’an? With public shaming, disrespect, and dishonor?
We must ask ourselves: Are we upholding our values or failing them?
Are we building a respectful generation or a reactive one?
Let this not just be a moment of outrage, but a turning point for accountability, moral repair, and justice.
