Skardu: In a major boost to domestic tourism, Skardu Airport has broken its own record by successfully handling 14 flights in a single day. Out of 16 scheduled flights on Wednesday, 14 were operated without disruption, underlining the growing demand for air travel to Pakistan’s northern regions.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the day’s operations included four flights by PIA and three by Airblue, with aircraft arriving from key cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. In addition to the inbound traffic, seven outbound flights departed from Skardu, strengthening two-way connectivity.
Officials attribute this surge in flight activity to a notable rise in tourism and see it as a promising indicator of economic growth for the region. With its expanding flight operations and improving facilities, Skardu Airport is increasingly being recognized as meeting near-international standards, cementing its role as a key aviation hub in the north.
