Lahore: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has relaunched its direct flight service from Lahore to Paris after a five-year suspension. The move comes following the European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision to lift the ban on the airline’s operations within Europe.
The inaugural flight, PK-733, took off from Lahore with 276 passengers on board a newly refurbished Boeing 777. This marks PIA’s second route to the French capital, as flights from Islamabad to Paris had already resumed earlier this year.
PIA officials expressed optimism that the restored service will strengthen economic, tourism, and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and France. The airline also revealed plans to restart operations in the UK in the near future.
Earlier, PIA faced backlash over a promotional ad for the Paris route, prompting the airline to issue a formal apology. Despite this, the resumption of flights is being hailed as a significant step toward rebuilding the national carrier’s global network.
