Islamabad faced one of its hottest days in history as temperatures soared to 45°C, narrowly missing the all-time record of 46.6°C set in 1994, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Dr. Mohammad Hanif of the PMD noted that some relief may be on the way, with chances of rainfall expected in the coming days.
Amid the intense heat, a fire broke out on the Margalla Hills, triggering an emergency response by the district administration. More than 50 firefighters were deployed to control the blaze, which officials believe was caused by human negligence. In light of the incident and ongoing dry conditions, authorities have imposed stricter regulations on gatherings and activities in forested areas to avoid future fire hazards.
