Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced Umrah trips for two brave young men from Swat, Muhammad Hilal Khan and Asmat Ali, who risked their lives to rescue stranded tourists during recent flash floods.
The governor praised their courage and selflessness during a special ceremony at the Governor House, where both were presented with shields and warm commendations for their heroic actions.
Governor Kundi also pledged to recommend them for national civil awards, recognizing their exemplary service in the face of danger. He lauded the spirit of community support and stressed that such acts of bravery reflect the true values of the people of Swat.
Additionally, the governor issued directives to strengthen emergency preparedness in the region. He called for better planning, the deployment of rescue boats, and enhanced resources to handle future flood emergencies effectively.
The announcement has been widely welcomed, with many praising the government’s move to honor local heroes and improve disaster response capabilities in the flood-prone Swat Valley.
