Karachi: The Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi has set a new benchmark by collecting Rs. 184.7 billion in taxes in just one day, achieving the highest single-day collection in its history.
This remarkable milestone highlights the LTO’s operational efficiency and strategic focus on improving tax recovery. Officials credited the record-breaking figure to well-coordinated efforts, effective enforcement, and enhanced taxpayer compliance.
June 2025 has proven to be a standout month, with total collections climbing to Rs. 449.05 billion, representing an impressive 48% increase over the same period last year.
For the entire fiscal year 2024–25, LTO Karachi’s total revenue collection reached Rs. 3.5 trillion, marking a 29% rise from the previous year. This surge has been fueled primarily by income tax and sales tax contributions from major corporations and industries.
The office, led by Chief Commissioner Zubair Bilal, has been widely praised for its effective leadership and strong teamwork, which officials say were critical to achieving these historic results.
Tax authorities have hailed the achievement as proof of the LTO Karachi’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic stability and broadening the tax base, while also promising continued efforts to improve collection systems and taxpayer services.
