Karachi: Parts of Karachi experienced light to moderate rain showers on Tuesday, offering welcome relief to residents after days of sweltering heat. The brief but refreshing showers cooled temperatures in several neighborhoods, bringing smiles to citizens weary of the persistent hot and humid conditions.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), scattered rain was recorded in DHA, Clifton, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and other central and eastern districts of the city. The PMD had earlier forecasted chances of light rain or drizzle due to a system of moist sea winds and changing atmospheric pressure over the Sindh coast.
Residents took to social media to share photos and videos of the rainfall, celebrating the temporary break from the intense summer heat. Many also reported a noticeable drop in temperature and humidity levels after the showers.
Weather officials have advised Karachiites to expect partly cloudy conditions over the next few days, with a slight chance of more light rain in some areas. However, they also warned of fluctuating humidity levels that could maintain an overall humid and warm feel despite the rain.
The showers were widely welcomed in a city that has faced prolonged heatwaves in recent years, highlighting the need for better urban planning and preparedness to manage extreme weather events.
