According to the Israeli military, Iran launched a fresh wave of missile attacks early Monday morning, targeting several locations in Israel. Among the sites hit was a residential building in a coastal area near the Mediterranean Sea. As a result of the strikes, five people were killed and 92 injured.
In the past several hours, both Iran and Israel have exchanged more airstrikes. Iran’s Monday morning assault reportedly struck multiple targets, killing four and injuring 87 in separate accounts.
These attacks follow Israel’s earlier offensive on Sunday, where it struck Iranian missile launch sites and killed the head of the IRGC’s intelligence unit. Iran’s retaliation has led to a new round of intense military exchanges between the two nations.
Following the rising tensions, global oil prices surged on Monday. Since the start of these clashes on Friday, at least 224 people have been killed in Iran and 19 in Israel. Meanwhile, U.S. officials told CBS News that former President Donald Trump had recently vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
